Let’s check in with Ivan. With a remarkable journey that unfolded during the challenging years of 2020 and 2021. Ivan discovered his true passion and found his path at the Community College of Denver. Ivan, it’s your time to shine.

– Thanks a lot, Alex. With ample time in 2020 and 2021, like others in the restaurant industry, I discovered my passion. I began experimenting with Adobe and self-educated graphic design basics. That’s when I discovered CCDs graphic design program. I was surprised to see there are many innovative degree options from direct to work certificates to associate degrees at transfer to a four year college. CCD also has bachelor degrees available for some programs. I chose the transfer degree path because of the diverse job opportunities available after earning a four year degree. I was nervous about how I would perform in some of my general education classes. But CCDs resources like the Excel zone, eased my concerns. At the Excel zone, you can walk in and get help from the many tutors they have ready to support you. If you’re worried about living expenses and going to school full-time like I was, they have work study positions offering up to 20 hours a week. This allowed me to earn money gain valuable work experience and have dedicated study time. It’s not all about hard work and studying. CCD also fosters a vibrant campus atmosphere with year-round events from mental health days featuring therapeutic interactions with farm animals to the Tivoli historic restaurant and brewery. There are ample opportunities for the whole community to unwind and enjoy. CCD offered me a second chance at education. Providing me with a necessary tools to succeed as I prepare to transfer to Metro State and embark on future endeavors, I’m grateful for the invaluable lessons I learned here. Cheers, Alex.
