The Titan Spirit with Brian
Segment #2 from Cal State Fullerton
Transcript
Let’s meet Brian. Since starting at Cal State Fullerton, he has embraced every opportunity to grow within the campus community. He’s currently working towards his master’s degree, but that wasn’t always his plan. CSUF had a transformative impact on his career and life and we can’t wait to hear all about it. Brian, tell us more about your time and continued involvement here on campus. Take it away.
– Thanks, Alex. Hi, everyone. Attending Cal State Fullerton was a really easy choice for me. Five years ago, I moved here from my hometown of San Diego to start my undergraduate journey. Today I’m proud to continue as a Titan now pursuing my master’s degree. When I got to CSUF, I promised myself I’d never say no to an opportunity and getting involved on campus changed everything for me. After moving on campus, I became an office assistant for the housing department and I fell in love with the on-campus community. I even became an RA so I could live, eat, and breathe Cal State Fullerton. I was cherishing every moment, from meeting incoming students to bonding with my residents, all while making incredible memories with my coworkers who became my closest friends. Even as a graduate student, my involvement didn’t stop. I took on the role of a graduate assistant in HR and joined the ASI Board of Directors with my best friends. I loved everything that everyone I met here and I didn’t wanna leave, so I didn’t. The impact of my supervisors was so profound that I decided not to be a teacher anymore. I switched careers. I love my on-campus work and involvement so much that I decided to make a career out of it. Now I’m pursuing my master’s degree in higher education so I can continue working with college students and help them get as much out of their journeys as I have. Cal State Fullerton has transformed my life in ways I never imagined. As I prepare for a pre-work with college students, I help to impact their lives. Just as Cal State Fullerton has impacted mine, and that’s why I’m here. Back to you, Alex.
– Wow, Brian, it’s incredible to hear how Cal State Fullerton has influenced your path. It’s clear that once you start here at CSUF, you will not wanna leave. Brian, thank you for sharing your commitment to the campus community and your passion for supporting students, it truly stands out. Thanks again and take care.
