Transcript
You all are gonna love our next student. Her name is Gabrielle. She’s a sophomore here at KSU studying media and entertainment with a minor in music and entertainment. Gabrielle is gonna talk to us through what research with relevance means for her at Kennesaw State. Take it away Gabrielle.
– Hooty hoo. Hi, Alex. Growing up I never saw anyone on screen who looked like me and that’s how I knew I wanted to join the entertainment industry. Kennesaw State has a really cool program that allows students to go on studio a lot while still in college and that’s what brought me to the university. Another cool thing about KSU is their opportunity for research. Who would’ve thought you could prepare a research on film. Well, you can. As a part of the first year scholars program, I got to collaborate early on in my career through some really cool research with people here. And if you’re an upperclassman, the office of undergraduate research offers opportunity for you to get faculty mentors as well. With all these resources in place, it’s no wonder that KSU is one of the largest suburban research universities in the nation. One of the best experiences I’ve had so far is a chance to work on the women’s film and television screenwriters project with my mentor Anna Weinstein. The research we did was featured in the Kennesaw State research journal. We also received second runner off at the 2021 Kennesaw State Symposium. Two years ago, I never would’ve imagined that such relevant research was even an opportunity for humanities major like me. But KSU has made easy for me to achieve my goal of being involved in TV and entertainment while still discovering new possibilities. That’s all for me Alex, take it away.
– That’s wonderful Gabrielle. It’s awesome that KSU is giving you chances to further your research in such a versatile industry like media and entertainment. Sounds to me like no matter what program you’re involved with, Kennesaw State has organizations and research opportunities that are relevant to your interests and major. Thanks again for sharing your story and keep spreading those wings. Take care.
