Empowering Your Journey with Elliott

Segment #10 from Concordia University Wisconsin

Transcript

It’s time to meet Elliott, a freshman who faced the common challenge of finding an academic major and a college to call his home away from home. CUW is committed to providing all students a supportive and enriching environment, especially during their critical first year. Elliott, tell us how discovering CUW set the stage for an uncommon college experience. Please take it away.

– Thanks for the intro, Alex. Choosing where to go to college was a big decision. As an athlete, I searched for a place where I could be successful both on and off the field. When I got to Concordia University, I quickly realized that there’s much more to this place beyond soccer. Here I can embrace all my interests like rock climbing and music, and when it comes to academics, I have an awesome advisor who helps me find the courses I need. Despite being five hours from home, I instantly made friends on the soccer team and the residence halls. Living on campus isn’t just about lake views and moderate amenities. There’s always activities and events where you can get together with friends like the Milk Mile Challenge and nightly devotions. CUW is all about community and attending these events makes me feel at home. Everything is easily accessible and I built connections with all kinds of different people. The culture of togetherness makes CUW ideal for anyone who’s looking for a supportive communal environment. There are lots of ways for students to get involved on campus. We have a ton of clubs and organizations, like our Student Government Association and the Campus Activities Board, or there are opportunities to work various on-campus jobs, so you can make money right here at school, but what truly sets CUW apart is the integration of faith into academics. The faculty here are not just teachers, but mentors who merge faith into everyday applications, showing me how my passions can evolve into a fulfilling career. I already feel equipped and excited for whatever comes next. With CUW support, I’ve started mapping out internship possibilities, taking the first steps towards my future career. That’s all for me. Back to you, Alex.

– Thank you, Elliott, for showing us how CUW supported your transition into college life and gave you a sense of belonging from the beginning. All first year students are matched up with a student mentor to ensure they are engaged on campus, aware of academic support resources, and have a solid foundation for their success. Thanks again, Elliott.
