‘The College Tour’ To Film Tusculum University Episode Starting Monday
By Tusculum University I October 7, 2023
Nine students and one alumnus will share what makes Tusculum University special and how their studies at Tennessee’s first higher education are enriching their lives during the filming of a national television show on campus.
Crews from “The College Tour” will be on campus Monday, Oct. 9-Friday, Oct. 13, to film segments with these Pioneers and Tusculum leaders as well as show student life and the campus’ beauty. They will describe how Tusculum provides active and experiential learning and inspires civic engagement in a caring Christian environment that prepares students to be career-ready professionals. “We’re thrilled to participate in this terrific opportunity to detail the value and affordability of a Tusculum education,” said Dr. Scott Hummel, Tusculum’s president. “The best way to achieve that is to hear from our students and alumni. They experience every day the pioneering spirit that is propelling them to succeed professionally through exceptional research initiatives, abundant community service opportunities and tremendous internships with excellent organizations.”
Speaking in the show will be students David Bowlin, Stephen Brewer, Isabelle Delbridge, Kobe Funderburk, Josie Norton, Grayson Patterson, Xavier Velazquez, Maggie Vickers and Todd Wallin as well as 2012 graduate Dionté Grey. Some of the students are local, and others come from other communities in Tennessee or other states.
Their messages will touch on the outstanding support they receive from multiple programs at Tusculum and how the university came through for them to make their college education possible. They will highlight the one-on-one connections students develop with their professors, the extensive approach to make new students feel at home from the moment they arrive and the way all athletic teams treat their student-athletes like family.
Students will tout Tusculum’s vibrant arts program, the ability to grow their faith, the strong campus life and the many locations for fun, relaxation and recreation off campus. The overarching message they will deliver is that Tusculum is the right university for a student to earn a degree.
When students graduate, they can put into action the skills and life lessons learned at Tusculum to make a difference in their community. Grey will share how his Tusculum education prepared him to create a new organization in Los Angeles that is making a difference.
Crews will also film segments with Hummel; Dr. Jacob Fait, vice president of enrollment management and financial aid; and J’Quen Johnson, assistant director of graduate and online enrollment.
“When you consider all a Tusculum education delivers, the best choice a student can make is to enroll at our university,” Fait said. “We are blessed with outstanding students, who use their years at Tusculum wisely to develop academically, socially and spiritually. They are backed every step of the way by expert and committed faculty and a dedicated staff who are focused on preparing students for the next step in their lives. This episode of ‘The College Tour’ will clearly show that.”
The Tusculum episode will drop on Amazon May 28, 2024, but the university will have access to the master episode and the segments within it in February to use on social media, the university’s website and other venues.
