About Our College
Villanova University is a private Catholic research higher education institution run by the Order of Saint Augustine in Villanova, Pennsylvania. It was founded by the Augustinians in 1842 and named after Saint Thomas of Villanova. The university is the oldest Catholic university in Pennsylvania[5] and one of two Augustinian institutions in the United States (The other being Merrimack College).[6] It is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity".[7]
