A Snapshot of Madison: The Campus & Community Experience with Morgan
Segment #5 from Drew University
Transcript
Let’s meet Morgan, a Media & Communications major and Business minor. He’s taken full advantage of Drew’s scenic hometown of Madison and that easy train ride into the heart of New York City to hone his photography skills. He’s also turned his talents into an on-campus internship, gaining those valuable real world skills that Drew university bills into every student’s experience. Morgan, take it away.
– Hey, everyone. A few years ago, I fell in love with photography and videography and when I committed to Drew University, I knew it could help me center my future career on my hobby. Thanks to their media communications and business departments. I combined my love for photography and videography through an on-campus internship, which eventually turned into a job. The people I met through my jobs as the athletic and theater photographer helped me shape the artist I am today. Everyone was welcoming. Some of the highlights of my on-campus job included creating promotional videos and photos for upcoming theater performances and taking action shots of some of our division three sports teams. The location of Drew to downtown Madison made it easy to get photo and video supplies at the local camera store, and I had access to New York City with the train station having a direct line to Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan. The opportunities provided by jobs and internships both on and off campus, can significantly pave the way to future careers and passions. Living on campus made it easy to have a place to go between classes, practice and work. Plus, it’s easy to make friends and feel involved in the community when you’re right here on campus. Now that I’ve graduated, I plan on working in the social media management and marketing fields. I’ve been brushing up on my disc golf skills and I plan on working with the PDGA. I can’t thank my professors enough for pushing me to create my best work and for encouraging me to find a job that’s right for me. Back to you, Alex.
– Morgan, it’s great to see your photography skills on display. Best of luck as you move into the working world, taking all the great experiences and opportunities from your time at Drew to thrive in the next stage. Congrats, Morgan.
