Whether he’s belting out tunes in the marching band, guiding students as an RA, or spiking balls on the intramural volleyball team, Lamarr embodies the spirit of involvement. – Thanks, Alex. What’s going on, y’all? Let me take you on a journey through my college experience where I’ve discovered more than just textbooks and lectures. Eastern Michigan University’s opportunities go well beyond the classroom life. From my first day at EMU, I knew I wanted to immerse myself in every aspect of college life. Whether it’s giving back to the community, joining clubs related to my interests, or attending campus sporting events. There’s never a dull moment here. But what truly sets EMU apart is the opportunities to get involved outside of class. For me, one of these opportunities has been playing the trumpet in the EMU marching band where I not only get to hone in my musical skills, but also form lifelong friendships with fellow musicians. Our marching band doesn’t just perform, we build connections and create memories. In addition to creating memories in the marching band, I’ve also been building connections as a resident advisor. The residential community at EMU has been incredibly supportive. Whether it’s late night study sessions or weekend hangouts, my dorm has become a second home. Being an RA, I’m able to help other students grow and create new experiences for themselves just like I was able to. During my time at EMU, I’ve realized it’s not just about earning a degree, it’s about personal growth and discovering my passions. Through campus involvement, I’ve learned the value of teamwork, leadership, and community. EMU has prepared me for a career and for a fulfilling life after graduation.
