Gabe, the mic is yours.
– Thanks, Desi. When I think about why I chose Morgan State, one word comes to mind: opportunity. After working in the broadcasting industry, I wanted to further pursue my dream career and little did I know that opportunity was waiting for me right here in my hometown of Baltimore. And during Morgan as a junior transfer student, I wasn’t totally sure what to expect, but when I saw the WEAA studio, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be. With three fully loaded production studios plus an on-air studio with the best microphones and equipment anybody could ask for, Morgan made developing my skills and abilities so much easier. When I wanted to step out from behind the camera and be the face of the show, Morgan made that happen. I started hosting the student-led “Morgan News Hour” and just a couple months after that, I was hosting the afternoon drive show, “Two Way Talk”. I get to book guests, take calls from the Baltimore community and discuss topics every single day. I even learned how to write an on air script, how to build a show and how to edit and develop content. No matter what degree path, Morgan prepares you for life outside of the classroom with real-world, hands-on experiences. I transferred here with an idea of what I wanted to do, but I graduated with the confidence and knowledge to actually make it happen. Morgan gave me the chance to pursue my passions and develop my skills with real-world experiences because here, students are at the forefront of the programs. It’s a pillar of what makes this place so successful. So thanks to Morgan, my future is my own and I’m equipped with the skills to go launch my dream career. Back to you, Desi.
Take it from Gabe. From internships, service learning opportunities, and relevant real world experiences, here at Morgan, you’ll find the support you’ll need to make your dream career a reality. Thanks, Gabe.
