Nursing Program

Segment #9 from College of San Mateo

Transcript

Let me introduce you to Glen, a nursing student who is striving to make a significant impact. Glen is also concurrently enrolled in a BSN program, so he’s fast tracking his nursing degree and saving a ton of money. Take it away, Glen, and tell us about College of San Mateo’s remarkable nursing program.

– Thank you, Alex. Hello everybody. Upon entering the nursing program, I’ve set a few personal intentions for myself. In my own experience, even small interactions can make an enormous impact on shaping a person’s character, and I aim to achieve that through nursing. CSM has a great reputation for being an amazing school, and this was evident in the most recent school year where the NCLEX Registered Nursing Board exam’s passing rate was over 92%. However, what stands out for me the most since becoming a student is the staff’s ability to create a welcoming environment where I feel that I could be myself. I feel genuinely loved and cared for by each member of the faculty, which provides me with the motivation and inspiration to push myself beyond what I thought was possible. CSM’s nursing program also allows students to concurrently enroll in a Bachelor’s Program at San Francisco State University and graduate in two and a half years. It’s a great opportunity to expedite your career and save a lot of money simultaneously. Additionally, we are taught unbiased topics on how to be a great nurse and overall on how to become a better human being. I’ve worked at three hospitals in my clinical rotations and they reinforce my desire to become a nurse. I hope that every single person out there aspiring to become a nurse experiences the feelings that I’ve felt during my time as a student. My favorite moment was singing “Happy Birthday” to a newborn’s first seconds of life. My end goal is not just to become a nurse. My desire is to impact someone’s life as others have impacted mine, even if it’s just one person. I believe that one small interaction has a power to influence an entire life, and I will dedicate my own life to achieve this rewarding feeling. Thank you. Back to you, Alex.

– Your story is awesome, Glen. Thank you for sharing. Being enrolled in CSM’s nursing program and San Francisco State’s program at the same time sounds like a great opportunity to gain valuable skills and earn your Bachelor’s Degree quickly. Thanks again.
